Members of KKB reviewed preliminary results from the group’s recent Bring It collection event and noted both participation numbers and items still awaiting final weight reports. “We did a 101 cars through the line this year,” a committee member said as the group opened the report. The organizer said 17 citizens used a shredder service (13 tubs of paper), 42 citizens used the hazardous-waste facilities, and Jaws collected “8 mattresses, 3 yards of metal, and 5 square yards of bulk trash.”
The committee member also reported participation in other services: “31 citizens recycling electronics or batteries, 3 citizens donating clothes and other items to the Mission Store,” and “2 bags of clothes for simple recycle.” The speaker said the group had not yet received a poundage report for hazardous waste: “They have not reported that yet.”
Organizers noted attendance dipped slightly from last year. “We had, you know, 20 cars less this year,” the committee member said, and that corresponded with “20 people recycling less than we did last year.” The report also said batteries taken by the recycling vendor were removed without cost: the committee member said the vendor “didn't charge us for those.”
Several volunteers and municipal-court staff were thanked during the discussion. The committee member offered “Big shout out to Josh and Griff” and singled out Darlene and Bertha from municipal court for help. Christian, identified in the meeting as staff, was thanked for coordinating paint and setup work, and the committee member praised Tamari, Darius and George for their roles: “That's the hardest job on the that is the hardest job, and we're so thankful for him and Darius and George.”
Organizers said they will collect final figures from staff and vendors and distribute a complete wrap-up once all poundage and vendor reports are received. The discussion did not include formal action beyond recording the event totals and noting follow-up to obtain missing data.
