The South Carroll County Special School District Board of Education approved a balanced budget for fiscal 2025–26 and set a property tax rate of $0.0874 per $100 of taxable property at its regular meeting on June 30 in Huntingdon, Tenn.
The budget resolution for 2024–25 was approved and the board then adopted the 2025–26 budget, which board members described at the meeting as balanced. The change in the tax rate was announced to the board on the preceding Friday, according to board discussion.
Corey Bartholomew, chairman of the South Carroll County Special School District Board of Education, called the motions. The 2024–25 budget resolution was moved and seconded by Donna McDaniel‑Cox and Tom Miller respectively. The 2025–26 budget and tax-rate motion was moved by Tom Miller and seconded by Donna McDaniel‑Cox; the board approved the motion on a final reading.
Board members did not provide a detailed line‑item breakdown of revenues and expenditures during the meeting; the director’s packet included routine budget documents, the board said. The board noted the tax-rate change had been made known to members before the meeting but did not provide additional public notice details during the session.
The board received a director’s report that included an update on virtual schools before adjourning at 8:44 p.m.
The district will implement the adopted budget and tax rate for the 2025–26 fiscal year unless the board revisits the matter in a future session.
