Director reports fire-alarm faults, hail damage to roof units and delays to soccer field project

In the April 17 director’s report Dr. Lisa Norris told the South Carroll County Special School District Board that the A.D. Jarrett gym fire-alarm system registered intermittent faults after heavy rains and will receive a follow-up inspection by Townsend, the district’s fire-systems contractor. J and M Roofing inspected the school roof and photographed hail damage to HVAC unit fans; Norris said the photos will be used to document next steps such as an insurance claim or repairs. Norris also told the board that the planned soccer field project and a National Guard training exercise on the site have been put on hold because the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for the project site is not complete. She said Mr. Lee Harris, working with the USDA, is completing the SWPPP and that attempts to contact consulting engineer Shawn Winberry, P.E., were unsuccessful as of the report. Norris said she will update the board when the SWPPP is finalized and when repairs or training can proceed.
