The Daviess County Board of Education unanimously approved naming the building at 4801 Frederica Street “Daviess County Public Schools” and approved a series of construction change orders and project documents at its May 15 meeting. The Naming Committee presented three options and the board voted 5-0 to select “Daviess County Public Schools” as the name to be placed on the front of the building. The board also approved Change Order Nos. 2, 3 and 4 for the new central office project that added blocking for new TV locations ($407), marker boards ($4,410) and additional TVs ($5,639), for a total of $10,456. Order #148 approving those change orders passed 5-0 on a motion by Mrs. Tammy Rice and a second by Mr. Frank Riney. Separately the board approved multiple change orders related to Apollo High School Phase IV renovations and miscellaneous athletic projects, including a change order itemized as an additional cost to provide a pilaster and move a drinking fountain for lintel bearing at the cafeteria ($4,025) and slab replacement in the commons ($54,525) with a credit (DEDUCT) of $50,500 applied to the general contractor for commons slab work; the motion passed 5-0. The board approved BG-1, owner-architect and owner-contractor agreements and construction drawings for gym bleacher replacement at Daviess County High School on state contract pricing using a DPO for materials (Order #150). The construction report in the packet provided progress notes on AHS Phase 4, miscellaneous athletic projects, and central office renovation scheduling and pending items. The board took no further amendments to the projects at the meeting.
