Library tax rates unchanged; county library reports summer participation

Laura McWilliams presented the Garrard County Public Library's activity and tax-rate information to the Fiscal Court. She reported that 490 Garrard County residents registered through the library's summer reading program, that the library recorded 1,997 program attendees during the summer, and that 3,897 books were checked out in June and July.
McWilliams said the library is developing a "memory lab" to digitize VHS tapes, records and cassette tapes to flash drives and external hard drives. She said story time programs were taken on the road this year.
On tax rates, court minutes show the real property rate was held at 6.3 and the tangible personal property rate at 9.08. Magistrate Preston moved to accept the tax-rate presentation and Magistrate Butner seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
