Clayton re-enrolls in Trex film recycling program; aims to collect 1,000 pounds of plastic film

The Clayton Planning Commission re-enrolled the town in Trex’s film‑recycling program and set a collection target of 1,000 pounds of plastic film to qualify for a Trex bench. Commission members said they already have a substantial amount of material stored and will continue collection over the coming months.
Collection boxes will remain at Coppertop and Mississippi's, commission members said. The library opted out of hosting a drop box this year after difficulties last season with people placing bags in the book return. A commissioner said they will approach other stores and the school to identify additional collection sites.
"We started another one. We've got to collect a thousand pounds of bags," a commissioner said. The commission also noted that they have material stored and will weigh it to track progress toward the goal.
Staff will follow up with potential collection partners and confirm logistics for weighing and turning in the material to Trex.
