Judge/Executive Chris Elleman told Garrard County Fiscal Court on Aug. 11 that negotiations with Atmos Energy over an easement at Logan Hubble resulted in a negotiated payment of $25,000, an increase from an earlier suggested figure of $5,000. Elleman said Magistrate Wayne Day handled the negotiation. Elleman also reported the fence at Logan Hubble is finished and that some playground equipment still needs to be moved within the fenced area. The update was presented under old business; no formal vote or new authorization was recorded during the meeting. Separately, Magistrate Glendan Barker reported he observed a tractor-trailer using the new RCUT at the north end by Rocky Top without issue but that some drivers continue attempting unsafe turns around the concrete, and Judge/Executive Elleman said he had asked the transportation department about additional signage to deter those movements. Magistrate Wayne Day also noted that 954 received a white stripe and that residents are posting complaints on Facebook about roadside mowing, which the magistrate said is the responsibility of the state road department.
