Garrard County Conservation District presents annual report; asks Fiscal Court to provide excavator for Sept. 5 recycling event

Jamie Barker of the Garrard County Conservation District presented the district’s annual financial report for July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025, highlighted program accomplishments and asked the Fiscal Court to provide an excavator on Sept. 5, 2025, from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. to load fencing materials into dumpsters for a farm safety day at the fairgrounds. The report noted more than 110 landowners updated agricultural water-quality plans, the district secured a $5,000 grant for dead animal disposal, awarded a $1,500 agricultural scholarship to graduating senior Gwyn Johnson of Garrard County High School, held its first county electronic-recycling drop-off day on Oct. 19, 2024 that collected over eight tons of e-waste, and launched a Backyard Conservation rebate program offering up to $200 per household for small conservation practices. Magistrate Wayne Day moved to acknowledge receipt of the annual financial report and Magistrate Glendan Barker seconded; the motion passed with all magistrates voting in favor.
