Garrard County Fiscal Court voted July 28 to approve an Engineering Services Proposal and the submission of a County‑City Bridge Improvement Program (CCBIP) application to pursue grant funding to replace the bridge on Old Railroad Grade Road, which officials said has been rated in poor condition for four to five years. Cammle Ford presented the bridge inspection report at a prior meeting and on July 28 presented an engineering proposal to complete and submit the CCBIP application. The initial estimated application cost is $8,900, including $2,000 estimated for surveying by Optic; court discussion noted that if the county is not awarded funds in this funding block, the application will roll into the next funding cycle. Judge/Executive Chris Elleman said he wanted the process pushed through to apply for the grant. Magistrate Chris Davis moved to approve the proposal and Magistrate Glendan Barker seconded; the motion carried with all magistrates voting in favor. No contract for construction was awarded at the meeting; the approval covers the engineering work and application submission only.
