On Aug. 5 the Morgan County Board of Education voted to grant permission to the Morgan County Center for Technical Careers (MCCTC) to accept bids from RT Builders for two STEM lab projects.

The board approved the motion to accept RT Builders’ $398,000 bid for the STEM lab at Coalfield School on a motion by Ben Jackson, seconded by Kasey Perkins; the vote was 6-0. The board also approved the motion to accept RT Builders’ $49,000 bid for a STEM lab at Sunbright School on a motion by Billy Ward, seconded by Kasey Perkins; that vote was also 6-0.

Minutes record that both motions “granted permission to MCCTC to accept the bid” from RT Builders at the stated dollar amounts. The minutes do not show further debate or alternate bidders for these specific awards.

Next steps: MCCTC will proceed with administrative acceptance of the bids per district procurement procedures. The board’s recorded action authorized acceptance but does not itself constitute a construction contract signature; contract execution will follow any required MCCTC and district approvals and compliance checks.
