The Mississippi Board of Psychology on June 6, 2025, meeting virtually by Zoom unanimously approved licensure for multiple applicants, ratified candidates for the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) and a temporary practice permit, and voted to remove a question from the oral licensure examination. Why it matters: The board’s actions finalize licensure for named applicants, adjust the oral exam used to evaluate candidates, and maintain the pipeline for practicing psychologists in Mississippi. During a closed executive session called under cited state code, the board approved closing complaint 250301 and accepted executive secretary Monica Sutton, Ph.D.’s recommendation to grant licensure to Sandra Powers, Maria Rakhsahn and Russell Smith Anderson. The board separately approved David Franks and, after recusals, approved Monica Daniels following a recommendation by Kaye Sly, Ph.D. The board also ratified predoctoral non-applicants for the EPPP (E20250519, E20250523, E20250522); approved candidates for the EPPP (20250313, 20250404); and ratified a temporary practice permit (U20250520). Molly Clark, Ph.D., credentialing coordinator, moved to accept the executive secretary’s licensure recommendations; Dr. Armstrong seconded the motion, and the vote passed unanimously with all members present participating. The transcript records that Dr. Clark, Penni Foster, Ph.D., and Dr. Sutton recused themselves from the discussion and vote on Monica Daniels; the motion to accept Dr. Sly’s recommendation passed unanimously among those voting. The board also discussed and approved changes to the oral examination. Molly Clark moved to remove a question from the oral exam; Kevin Armstrong, Ph.D., seconded the motion, and the motion passed unanimously. These candidate approvals and the exam change took place during the meeting’s executive session. The board cited Miss. Code Ann. §25-41-7(1) and Miss. Code Ann. §24-41-7(3) & (5) when entering executive session for reviewing candidate status, applications, complaints and oral-exam review. The board did not record any dissenting votes; all agenda motions in the administrative and executive portions of the meeting passed unanimously. Looking ahead: The decisions complete licensure actions for the named candidates and set a revised oral exam for future applicants; the board did not provide a public schedule for implementing the revised exam or details on the removed question.
