Hal Rounds, speaking for the Curriculum & Textbook Committee, reviewed the science textbook adoption process and recommended selecting textbooks preferred by teachers in line with Department of Education guidelines and local board policies. Rounds moved to adopt the committee-recommended science textbooks; Dr. Mike Brown seconded the motion and it carried.
Rounds said the adoption follows DOE guidelines and local policy procedures; the minutes record no substantive objections and no amendments to the recommendation were made at the May 8 meeting. The newly adopted textbooks will be implemented according to the committee’s outlined process and local instructional plans.
The board did not provide detailed lists of the individual textbook titles in the meeting minutes; staff and committee members will manage final procurement and distribution consistent with adopted curriculum and applicable procurement rules.
