Board approves revised homebound application and moves to distribute SPED feedback forms

During the Special Needs/Student Health Committee report on May 8, the board voted to advance an updated Homebound policy and to accept a rewritten Homebound approval application that must be completed and submitted directly by a doctor or professional via fax.
Mrs. Becky Trimm said she received feedback from Director Gillard and moved to send the proposed Homebound policy update to the Policy Committee for additional clarity; Chairman Warner Speakman seconded the motion and it carried. Trimm then moved to accept the rewritten Homebound approval application; Speakman seconded and the motion carried. The minutes show the application now requires direct submission from a doctor or professional via fax.
Mrs. Trimm also reported that the Special Education Department’s feedback form will be distributed to students, parents, teachers, therapists and others with a vested interest in Special Education students. She said the forms will be sent through REMIND, posted on the Fayette County Public Schools website and made available in printed copies, and she requested that distribution begin immediately.
The board’s actions were procedural and directed staff to the Policy Committee and to distribute the feedback forms; no additional policy language beyond the application submission requirement was adopted at the May 8 meeting.
