Board approves agenda, minutes; accepts committee reports and enters executive session with no action

The Mississippi Board of Nursing unanimously approved its meeting agenda and the minutes of prior meetings, accepted committee reports, elected members to a nominations committee and entered an executive session for personnel during its April 11, 2025 business meeting in Ridgeland. Jeremy Cummins moved and Beverly Oliver seconded approval of the agenda; the board voted unanimously. The board unanimously approved the minutes of the Feb. 7, 2025 General Business Meeting and the February 2025 hearing panel minutes on Agreed Settlement Proposals following motions by Jeremy Cummins with seconds by Beverly Oliver and Janel Moody, respectively. The Finance Committee report was accepted on a motion by Mary Stewart, seconded by Lacey Gentry. The Compliance Committee's recommendations were accepted and compliance affidavits were accepted in case numbers 914238, 879967, and 879066 on a motion by Mary Stewart, seconded by Janel Moody. Beverly Oliver moved, and Jeremy Cummins seconded, that Nancy Johnson be elected chair and that Alveno Castilla and Renia Dotson be appointed to the nominations committee; the board unanimously approved those appointments pursuant to existing board bylaws. President Sandra Culpepper moved the board into a closed session to determine the need for an executive session and, with a subsequent motion and second by Jeremy Cummins, the board entered an executive session under Miss. Code Ann. Section 25-41-7(4)(k) to discuss a personnel matter. When the board returned to open session it announced it had taken no official action during the executive session. The minutes show no members of the public attended in person though Zoom was available for public participation; the record lists board staff and counsel present.
