The Mississippi Board of Nursing unanimously approved two Practical Nursing program requests on April 11, 2025, at its Ridgeland business meeting. Mary Stewart, a board member, moved to grant the MS Gulf Coast Community College request for a stipulation for its MA-to-LPN program; Alveno Castilla seconded the motion, and the measure passed unanimously. Stewart also moved to grant Hinds Community College permission to offer a hybrid practical nursing option for Summer 2025; Andrew Calhoun seconded that motion and the board voted unanimously to approve it. Dr. Priscilla Burks, director of Practical Nursing Education for the Mississippi Board of Nursing, presented the recommendations that the board adopted. The approvals were made "subject to the criteria as set forth by the PN Director's Report as presented," and the minutes do not reproduce the report's specific criteria. The actions are formal board approvals to allow the two institutions to proceed under the conditions described in the director's report. The board did not record additional discussion or qualifications in the minutes. Less-critical procedural business and other committee actions followed later in the meeting.
