Board adopts inclement-weather procedure forgiving up to 10 days for support staff

The Obion County Board of Education approved an update Sept. 2 to add an Administrative Procedure allowing support staff, including central office support staff, up to 10 school weather cancellation days forgiven each year.

Director Tim Watkins explained the proposed Staff Weather Policy and recommended it be codified as an Administrative Procedure. The board voted to approve the change on Watkins' recommendation; the motion to approve was made by Keisha Hooper and seconded by Shannon Graham. MOTION CARRIED.

Watkins told the board the forgiven days apply to "all support staff, including Central Office support staff" and that the change would be added to Administrative Procedure. The minutes do not specify whether the forgiven days affect leave balances for payroll purposes, whether the forgiven days apply to full- and part-time staff equally, or if the change creates any fiscal implications.
