Obion County Director of Schools Tim Watkins informed the board June 30 that Black Oak School’s official last day was that day and that keys had been turned in. The board approved a motion to surplus items from Black Oak that were deemed to have no monetary value or use in other buildings, minutes show.

Director Watkins also reported an official last count of 13 students who transferred to Lake County following the school’s closure. The surplus authorization covers items below the district’s monetary threshold for sale and allows district management to dispose of equipment and materials deemed not usable elsewhere, the minutes record. The motion to surplus was made by Chris Akin, seconded by Barry Adams and recorded as “MOTION CARRIED.”
