Town staff presented details of the Square to Square Independence Day street festival and fireworks event scheduled for July 4, including the festival route, street closures, activities, and safety instructions for attendees.
Amy Sharon from Community Development told the council the combined Square to Square festival and traditional fireworks event will start at 6:00 p.m. and run until about 9:00 p.m. along Main Street from Town Square to Horn Square, with a bike parade beginning at 6:00 p.m. and fireworks launching from Clayton High School at about 9:15 p.m. Staff described family activities including a rock-climbing wall, roving juggler, instrument demonstrations for children, free snow cones and watermelon, a fire-truck spray-down, area nonprofits, and the Clayton Farm and Community Market.
Sharon said Main Street will be closed from O'Neil Street to Lombard Street beginning at about 4:30 p.m. to allow setup and cleanup, and that no-parking zones will be installed to permit emergency-vehicle access around downtown. Staff provided maps showing public viewing areas and parking lots, and advised attendees to move to the right for approaching emergency vehicles. The presenter encouraged residents to follow the Clayton Fire Department and town communications for updates.
Council thanked staff and volunteers for planning efforts and encouraged residents to attend. No formal action was required; this was an informational administrative item.
