Warren County submits broadband deployment application to state utility board; project would serve about 2,000 residents

Warren County announced Feb. 11 that it has submitted an application to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities for a broadband infrastructure deployment program intended to extend service to underserved areas. County Public Works Director Emily Hammer told the Board the application has been filed and, if approved, the project would serve about 2,000 people in higher regions of the county.

Hammer said the submission has been made to the Board of Public Utilities for the county’s broadband infrastructure deployment program. “If approved, it will serve 2,000 people in the higher regions of the County,” she said. The board took no formal vote on the application at the Feb. 11 meeting; the announcement was provided as an update from the Department of Public Works.
The update noted the project had been discussed in previous meetings but did not include a timetable for construction, vendor selection or funding breakdown in the meeting record. County staff said they will provide follow-up information as the BPU review proceeds.
