The Decatur Public School District 61 Board of Education approved the employment of Floyd Bolt as director of buildings and grounds effective Aug. 20, 2025.

"I appreciate it very much that you continue your faith in me to try and provide the district and the students and staff with the best facilities and people," Bolt told the board after the roll-call vote. He noted that members of his buildings-and-grounds team attended the meeting in support.

The appointment was approved by roll call, 7 ayes, 0 nays. No additional discussion or conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes.

Why it matters: The director of buildings and grounds oversees maintenance, capital projects and daily facility operations; the hire follows earlier discussion of facility planning and Roadmap 2030.

Vote: Employment approved 7–0; effective date 08/20/2025.
