Board members on June 24 discussed steps to begin a superintendent search and to re‑energize the district’s long‑range planning effort referenced in the meeting as “Roadmap 02/1930.”
A board member asked about the status of the superintendent evaluation process and job description materials from the Illinois Association of School Boards. Dr. Clark and other board members said the evaluation and the job description need to be finalized before hiring a new superintendent. “Both of those definitely need to be hammered out by the board before we hire a new superintendent,” a board member said.
Board members debated whether to wait to restart Roadmap 02/1930 until the district hires a new superintendent or to proceed immediately. Will and Jason (board members who previously served on the roadmap committee) said the roadmap should be re‑energized quickly; one member noted the roadmap had substantial community input and that pausing it would waste volunteer time. “We had 60 to 80 community members’ time, effort, and energy in this process,” a board member said, urging the board to restart work soon.
No formal vote was recorded on scheduling a search or on restarting the roadmap; members agreed the superintendent search is likely the immediate priority and that roadmap discussions should follow quickly. Board members said they will circulate materials from the Illinois Association of School Boards and begin work to define expectations for the superintendent role and evaluation.
