The Santa Fe Public School Board convened an executive session Aug. 14 to discuss the purchase, acquisition or disposal of real property and threatened or pending litigation, and later reported that no decisions were made.

Board members cited New Mexico statutes authorizing closed sessions. In the motion to enter executive session, the board referenced NMSA 1978 Section 10-15-1(H)(8) (property transactions) and NMSA 1978 Section 10-15-1(H)(7) and (H)(1) (threatened or pending litigation) in connection with specific matters including a 'Connie lease agreement' and two litigation matters identified in the meeting as Parker v. Board of Education of Santa Fe Public Schools and Rosangela Espirito Santo Rogers (case reference numbers cited by staff during the motion).

When the board reconvened in public session, Superintendent Griffin and board members reported that the executive session had covered the listed items and that no formal decisions had been reached. Vice President Noble asked to note for the record that she 'stayed outside thus recusing myself from any discussion on item A under executive session, the Connie lease agreement as I do work at Growing Up New Mexico who has the Connie lease with the Santa Fe Public Schools.'

The board then proceeded with the public agenda. No settlement details or transaction terms were announced in open session; the item list and the recusal were the primary public disclosures from the closed meeting.
