Jefferson County’s noxious weed/invasive species program reported multiple procurement and disposition actions: the board approved purchasing a 2005 Polaris (model 570) for $9,500 from the capital vehicle plan and approved a resolution to declare a 2018 Suzuki King Quad 500 as surplus property to be sold or destroyed.
Weed Control superintendent (name not specified) presented bids for a new four-wheeler; staff said the low bid was from RMS (Rexford Motorsports) at $9,500 and that $15,000 had been set aside in the capital vehicle plan. The board moved to approve the purchase and directed staff to prepare a purchase order.
The board also approved Resolution 2025-31 authorizing sale/replacement of the 2018 Suzuki King Quad 500 as obsolete and water-damaged equipment; staff noted prior similar auctions had brought roughly $4,500 for a used unit. Weed Control staff additionally reported that the Bureau of Land Management had agreed to a $10,000 contribution this year to support weed work.
Why it matters: vehicle availability affects the weed program’s ability to spray and manage invasive species; declaring old units surplus and recovering auction proceeds helps finance replacements.
Commissioners instructed staff to prepare the purchase order for the Polaris and to move forward with the surplus-resolution paperwork and eventual auction listing.
