Commission approves Fiesta Grill vendor license at Jefferson County Lake; staff report on summer operations and events

Jefferson County commissioners approved a vendor-license agreement for Fiesta Grill to operate at Jefferson County Lake, and staff gave updates on summer operations, revenue and plans for a proposed 40‑acre park behind the high school.

The board voted to approve the vendor license offering a fee of $550 or 6%, whichever the county prefers; staff said the vendor will sell non-grilled items such as lemonade and fruit cups for summer events and will not require power hookups. The motion to approve the license passed on roll call.

Lake operations update: Staff reported strong weekend revenues at the lake box office and day-pass sales, citing recent weekend revenues of roughly $21,800 and $22,648 for two weekends; year-to-date revenue was reported at $196,324, about $8,000 more than the prior year.

Parks and events: Staff described plans for a 40-acre park behind the high school with five utility fields, four baseball/softball fields, walking track, shelters and future outdoor fitness equipment. Staff also said they were negotiating fireworks purchase costs that had increased by roughly $7,000 and were pursuing donations and sponsorships to cover the higher price.
