The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners approved a new full-time position — planning and hearing coordination specialist — in the planning and zoning department to replace and broaden an administrative-assistant role.
County planning staff described the position as responsible for hearing administration (scheduling meetings, preparing legal notices and minutes), supporting planning and zoning processes, and improving public-facing information on the county website. Staff said the role’s qualifications will be higher than the prior administrative classification and that existing administrative functions will be absorbed across the office while the new position focuses on hearings and communications.
Commissioners approved the job creation by motion and roll call. County staff said they have budget capacity because of other position changes and will post and recruit for the classification after human-resources and pay-grade confirmation.
Ending: The county will advertise the job and return with candidates; no specific hire was made at the meeting.
