Planning staff explained the county has granted similar waivers in the past and noted the county needs to update its building code to explicitly list this type of permit waiver in the planning-zone regulations. “We just need to update the building code so that it's written in there. In the planning zone inside, it's written in the key stand, and we just haven't done it for the building site,” planning staff said. Staff indicated they expect to return to the board with any permit for the school's larger field house once the permit application is submitted.
Commissioners recorded no conditions on the waiver in the meeting discussion. The board completed the roll-call and moved on to other items.
The action applies to the single equipment-room permit before the board; any broader policy change would require the planning and legal process described by staff and future board action.
