City awards Prairie Creek bridge deck overlay contract to Jasper Construction

The council approved awarding the contract for the Sixth Street Southwest over Prairie Creek bridge deck overlay project at the Sept. 9 meeting. Doug Wilson of Public Works said the project includes deck patching and concrete resurfacing; staff received three bids on Sept. 3 ranging from $224,554.01 to $422,215 and recommended awarding the contract to Jasper Construction Services. Wilson said the project will start this month and be completed in October; the city estimated the project cost at $410,000. Council approved the staff recommendation; the resolution awarding the contract was moved by Poe, seconded by Overland, and carried on a voice vote after no council questions were raised. Public Works will coordinate contractor scheduling and traffic controls during the work.
