The Cedar Rapids City Council on Sept. 9 approved awarding the 20 Sixth Street Southwest over Prairie Creek bridge deck overlay project to Jasper Construction Services after receiving three bids for the work.
Public Works Project Manager Doug Wilson said the project includes deck patching and concrete resurfacing of the bridge deck. The department received three bids on Sept. 3 ranging from $224,554.01 to $422,215; the project had an estimated cost of $410,000. Public Works recommended awarding and approving the contract to Jasper Construction Services.
Council Member Poe moved to adopt the resolution awarding the contract and Council Member Overland seconded; the motion passed on a voice vote. Staff said work would start this month and be completed in October.
The award authorizes the city to execute a contract with Jasper Construction Services and begin the scheduled deck patching and resurfacing work under the terms of the bid.
