The Ouray County Board voted unanimously Aug. 26 to award the replacement of fuel equipment at the Ridgeway Yard to Eaton Sales for $167,375 and to authorize the chair to sign the contract and the related physical impact form.
County procurement staff said the county issued an RFP for replacement of fuel equipment at both the Ridgeway and Ouray yards; received bids exceeded the fiscal year budget. Staff recommended prioritizing Ridgeway equipment replacement so the county could resume selling fuel to customers and recover fuel administration revenues. The board was told the project was budgeted at $150,000 but quotes were higher; staff confirmed sufficient funds were available in account 950.
Procurement clarified the award applies only to line item 1 (Ridgeway equipment). Staff said line item 2 covered Youray yard equipment and line item 3 addressed closure and decommissioning of the existing Ridgeway fuel point; future work for closure will use on‑call engineering services with KLJ. Commissioners emphasized the award was limited to the Ridgeway replacement and that closure/closure engineering and any Ouray yard work would be budgeted separately.
The motion to approve the award and authorize the chair to sign documents specifying line item 1 for Eaton Sales carried unanimously. Staff said once the Ridgeway fuel point is back in operation, the county anticipates restoring the revenue stream that supports the fuel fund.
