The Waxahachie City Council approved annexation (ANX 91 20 25) of approximately 7.47 acres at 1810 Long Branch Road following a property-owner petition. The parcel contains an existing single-family residence and is currently split between city limits (front portion) and territory outside city limits (rear portion); the owner asked for annexation because they said agreed services promised at prior annexation were not being received.
Staff (Trenton) told council that, in staff’s assessment, the property continues to receive services required under the original annexation agreement. During council discussion, the police and fire chiefs both confirmed that, if a 9-1-1 call were made from the property, police and firefighters would respond.
The council moved, seconded and approved the annexation by voice vote. The property’s proposed zoning was listed as Future Development. No roll-call vote was recorded in the meeting minutes.
Context: the parcel had been partially inside city limits and partially outside; the annexation consolidates jurisdiction into the city and allows future development to be regulated by city land-use rules. Trenton noted a short-term rental was recently approved on the same road, Long Branch Road, during a separate agenda item earlier in the meeting.
Limitations: the minutes record the council’s approval but do not include a roll-call or a detailed implementation schedule; staff will follow standard annexation procedures for zoning and services.
