Granite County commissioners approved an annual agreement with Bridget Perry to provide the administrative functions required for the county superintendent of schools.
County staff explained the county superintendent position requires an administrative degree to perform certain duties; the county contracts annually with a licensed administrator to fulfill those functions. The agreement with Bridget Perry covers up to 175 hours annually, includes retirement contributions into the Teachers’ Retirement System, and caps reimbursements at $500. Staff said the total annual amount under the agreement would not exceed budgeted funds (the contract includes hourly pay and retirement contributions).
Commissioners voted to accept the agreement after staff noted that the Office of Public Instruction and county legal advisers had reviewed the arrangement; the contract will be signed by the commission chair and returned to staff for execution.
No change was made to the county superintendent’s day-to-day office staffing other than formalizing the annual agreement with Perry and the related payroll and retirement bookkeeping arrangements.
