Granite County commissioners on Tuesday approved an updated job description for the Solid Waste District secretary and regraded the position to Grade 8 entry level, effective July 1.
County staff said the updated description adds duties including registrations, licensing, permitting, software management for site accounts, coordination with the treasurer and the Department of Revenue on dump cards and units, and other administrative tasks. The commission reviewed a compensable-factors worksheet and accepted staff’s recommendation to place the position at Grade 8 entry.
Commissioners voted to make the regrade retroactive to July 1 to align with the budget cycle and anniversary date steps; the motion to adopt the job description update and regrade passed unanimously.
Staff said the change affects the secretary’s anniversary and payroll calculations; the treasurer will process any retroactive pay through payroll. The commission did not increase the size or staffing of the solid waste operation—only the job classification and description were changed.
