Steve Schiff, president of the Liberty Hill Chamber of Commerce, reported to the City Council on Aug. 27 that the Chamber had reached 302 members, up from 173 two years earlier. Schiff asked council members and community members to sign up as speakers and mentors for the high‑school entrepreneur program, which he said will culminate in May, and said he would be recruiting mentors late in September.
“We reached our goal of 300 members. We reached it about a week ago, and we actually have 302 members in the Chamber of Commerce,” Schiff said. He encouraged council members to help recruit volunteers: “If you're interested, just give me a high sign or [tap] me on the shoulder. Let me know, and I'd be happy to sign you all up.”
Schiff also promoted two Chamber events: the annual gala on Sept. 23 at Lone Star Oaks (tickets $75; limited capacity anticipated) and the jingle bell run on Dec. 13, which the Chamber organizes with the Liberty Hill Education Foundation and had drawn 438 runners in its first year. He said the Chamber gave roughly $12,000 back to the Education Foundation and that checks were distributed to participating schools.
Council members thanked Schiff and commended the Chamber for supporting the local business community. Schiff invited attendees to a Chamber luncheon and said he would host an event the following day at CrossTrax Church.
