BRIDGEPORT, Texas — The Bridgeport City Council on July 14 approved an agreement with Dunaway & Associates for bid and construction-management services for the Hub on Hustle development, advancing the project to the procurement phase.
Chris Heasley, Parks and Recreation superintendent, described Dunaway’s role: participate in the pre-bid meeting, assist in bid review and reference checks, attend biweekly construction meetings, perform site visits and help resolve contractor change-order items with the project engineer. Heasley said staff planned to release the bid packet immediately and encouraged bidders to attend a pre-bid meeting scheduled for 11 a.m. on July 24. Bids are due at 11 a.m. on Aug. 7.
Heasley told council the construction timeline will depend on the awarded contractor but estimated about 10 to 14 months after construction begins; staff hopes to start work before the end of September and anticipates an opening in 2026. The council approved the Dunaway agreement by unanimous vote after a motion by Bobby Rodriguez and a second by Susan Kaufman.
Next steps: staff will analyze bids between Aug. 7 and Aug. 18 and return to council with a recommendation for award. During construction Dunaway will coordinate closely with the city and the project engineer to ensure the project is built to plan.
