Public Works Director James Elliott said the city has been tracking paving work year by year and maintains an inventory showing streets completed since 2016 and 2017. “We have a map that we've updated,” Elliott said, and council members noted many of the recently completed projects were on streets that did not require major underground infrastructure work.
Councilmembers discussed coordinating the parking-lot resurfacing with adjacent street work at the parking area near Champions Park on Tenth Street. Preston moved to authorize staff to bid the work; Susan Kauffman seconded and the motion passed 3-0.
Elliott and councilmembers said the city will continue to prioritize streets that do not require extensive sewer or water line replacement to avoid repaving areas that then require later excavation. Staff agreed to provide map information to be posted on the city website to show residents completed and upcoming paving work.
