At its February 2025 meeting the Snyder City Council approved several administrative measures: the council adopted a Chapter 59 asset-forfeiture report, appointed Andrea Armendariz as a temporary municipal judge by ordinance (first reading and formal motion), nominated Will Collier to represent the city on the Scurry County Appraisal District Board of Directors, certified that mayoral and two at-large council candidates were unopposed and voted to cancel the May 3, 2025 general election. The council considered an ordinance to appoint Andrea Armendariz as temporary municipal judge while the city continues a search for a permanent judge. City staff said Armendariz has prior judicial experience in a neighboring municipality and agreed to serve on a temporary, contract basis — appearing about once a week — and would be reimbursed for mileage. Staff told the council the city’s charter requires the permanent municipal judge to be a Scurry County resident; the council approved the temporary appointment by unanimous vote.
Resolution R250224 nominates Will Collier to the Scurry County Appraisal District Board of Directors. City staff told the council that a previous nominee, Jim McMillan, declined; the local school district had nominated Bill Carter and the county commissioners nominated Will Collier. The council voted to forward the nomination of Will Collier by resolution.
Because no one filed to oppose the incumbents for mayor and two at-large council seats, the council certified the candidates as unopposed and voted to cancel the May 3, 2025 general election for those offices.
The council briefly convened an executive session under Texas Government Code Section 551.074 for a personnel matter — the semiannual evaluation of the city manager — which the mayor said concluded at about 1:13 p.m.; the mayor stated no action would be taken following the closed session.
