The council also designated the Texas Triangle Park Reinvestment Zone No. 1 pursuant to Texas Tax Code, Chapter 312; staff presented the request for roughly 182 acres (recorded in the staff text as “182 acres 0.7 acres”) and the council approved the designation in a unanimous vote. During the meeting the mayor opened and closed public hearings on both items after no members of the public spoke. The consent agenda included multiple housekeeping and capital purchase items and a Texas Avenue beautification grant referenced by council members during discussion; council members noted that information on consent items is available on the city website and that larger purchase orders are intended to cover recurring annual needs. Planning staff told the council that the Planning and Zoning Commission (PNC) unanimously recommended approval of RZ 2504 on Aug. 7 and that no opposition had been recorded. The TIRZ designation was presented as a tool for reinvestment in the specified area and the ordinance was approved as presented.
