Leadership Sandoval County, TLC Plumbing and Albuquerque WinAir pledged equipment and installation for an HVAC upgrade in a portable classroom at Ernie Stapleton Elementary; the board approved acceptance of the donation.
The Rio Rancho Public Schools Board of Education accepted a donation Monday from Leadership Sandoval County, TLC Plumbing and Albuquerque WinAir to replace HVAC equipment in one portable classroom at Ernie Stapleton Elementary.
RioTech Principal Dr. Chris Johnson and Leadership Sandoval participants described the project as the product of a community leadership program’s group project. Carlos Robles of TLC Plumbing said the donation will include one full HVAC replacement (one split system covering two classrooms) and installation work to bring the unit up to code; Nathan Lopez of Albuquerque WinAir pledged one donated unit. Board members and staff thanked the volunteers and companies for donated materials, labor and a 20-year workmanship warranty mentioned during the presentation.
The board voted to accept the donation; motion to approve was made by Jeff Morgan and seconded by Jessica Tyler and carried without opposition.
District staff noted the donation covers equipment and installation only; electrical panel upgrades were not included and would be addressed separately if needed. The project also anticipates additional volunteer work (painting, sensory-pathway painting and buddy benches) to be presented to the board for future approval.
