Board commends Rio Rancho Fire Rescue and Intel for school‑supply donations

The Rio Rancho Public School Board on Aug. 25 publicly commended Rio Rancho Fire Rescue and Intel employees for donating backpacks and school supplies to students in need. The superintendent and Student Services staff highlighted the donations and the time volunteers invested in the drive.

Chief James Wenzel of Rio Rancho Fire Rescue accepted the commendation in person and said, “It was a absolute honor to, to try to do a school job for you guys... the men and women of Rio Rancho Fire Rescue truly turned out very, heartfelt response from everybody.” District staff also thanked Intel employees for donating supplies; staff said Intel representatives were not present at the meeting but the district appreciates the company’s support.

Superintendent V. Sue Cleveland and board members expressed appreciation for the community assistance and noted a plaque for the fire department will be delivered after a staff specialist’s medical emergency prevented it from being presented at the meeting.
