The Rio Rancho Public School Board voted unanimously Aug. 25 to approve a one‑year amendment extending the lease for Enchanted Mesa Daycare (EMDC). District staff said the daycare currently serves about 45 children of district employees and a handful of Independence High School students who are parents.

The amendment renews the lease term commencing Aug. 31, 2025 and concluding Aug. 31, 2026. The lease was originally executed Sept. 13, 2022; the amendment preserves the existing terms and extends the occupancy for the additional year. Presenting staff said the landlord, Garza Group, LLC (Julian Garza), “has been an incredible landlord to the day care over the past 5 years.”

Board member Gary Tripp moved to approve the amendment and Board member Miller seconded; the board approved the renewal by roll call vote, 4–0. A board member noted a typographical mailing‑address ZIP code in the draft and asked staff to correct it before final execution. Staff said long‑term options will be considered as enrollment grows.
