Board members, administrators and music directors used a portion of the meeting to recognize students from District 211 high schools who were selected for Illinois All‑State honors ensembles and other national programs.
Superintendent Dr. Theresa Small and Director of Athletics and Activities Eric Bukowski introduced representatives of the music programs and called forward students from Fremd, Conant, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates and Palatine high schools.
Honorees included students cited as principal or first chair in All‑State ensembles: senior Elise Schlesinger (principal horn; National Youth Orchestra of the USA selection), percussionists Yechan Kim and Ashwin Mahadharra, and clarinetist Christopher Chung among others. Several students were noted for continued participation in regional and national youth orchestras and conservatory auditions.
Music directors highlighted students’ accomplishments, leadership roles and extracurricular involvements. Directors also thanked the board and district for financial support that enables participation in All‑State events.
The board recessed briefly for photos after the recognitions. The recognitions were presented without formal action.
