During public comment, resident Lee Bennett urged the Township High School District 211 Board to expand boys interscholastic volleyball opportunities for younger students and to provide a clearer pipeline for sophomores.
Bennett staged a short skit to illustrate his point and said, "It's not fair," when describing a hypothetical seventh‑grade boy denied a chance to play. He told the board that Billy's cohort was the last class of district 15 boys denied the opportunity and that last year some students finally played interscholastic volleyball as freshmen at Palatine and Fremd high schools. Bennett said the district’s program now offers interscholastic boys volleyball but that sophomore opportunities are limited.
He raised concerns about parity and compliance, saying, "Boys' interest in volleyball is not being fully accommodated or even accommodated to the same extent as many other sports," and invoked Title 9 in the course of evaluating fairness.
The speaker identified connections to the Palatine Park District program and to District 15 as context for his examples. His remarks were part of the public comment period; no board response, decision or direction was recorded in the transcript and no action was taken at that time.
Board procedure was reiterated before public comment that the session is a public meeting and not a dialogue, and that board members would not be answering questions during public comment.
