The Township High School District 211 Board of Education recognized student members of the Hoffman Estates High School esports program for top finishes at conference, sectional and state competitions.
During student recognitions, Dr. Campbell introduced the district’s esports honorees and invited families forward to receive awards. Hoffman Estates High School principal Mike Arthur and esports coach Gonzalo Bullion were present to assist with the recognition.
Gonzalo Bullion told the board, “Our esports team had a very successful season. The team won many awards and accolades.” He detailed team finishes: the Mario Kart team placed first in conference, second in sectionals and fourth in state; the Rocket League team finished first in conference, first in sectionals and third at state.
Players recognized included Mario Kart competitors Xavier Domanski and Ethan Bowes, and Matthew Lopez and Jorge Prieto; Rocket League players included David Gallu and Troy Johnson. Families stood as each student received their award.
Dr. Campbell, who said this was his 12th official day as superintendent, thanked staff and families for supporting students as the board welcomed him to the table.
No board action was required; the item was a ceremonial recognition.
