Parent asks board to act after assistant coach used profanity at high school game

Sorensen described the final seconds of a close game at the RVC "Rumble in the Rock," where her son scored a game-winning basket and, during the customary postgame handshake line, an assistant coach said to Caden, "you're a b..." Sorensen clarified the coach used "the word that starts with a b and sounds like 'itch.'" She said players and an Auburn coach heard the remark and called it "beyond unacceptable."
Sorensen said she filed a complaint through the superintendent's office and the incident was redirected to Auburn's principal, who called her but would not share the outcome of any meeting. "The assistant coach should be a mentor ... He needs to be fired," she said, adding she was concerned because the teams were scheduled to play again the following Friday.
The board did not take formal action during the meeting; Sorensen asked that the district ensure accountability for athlete mentorship and coach conduct.
