Rockford Public Schools opened a public hearing on a resolution to authorize the issuance of general‑obligation school bonds not to exceed $9,900,000 for the purpose of altering and reconstructing school buildings and purchasing equipment for fire prevention, energy conservation and school security.
Administrators said the funds would complete state‑mandated life‑safety projects identified in a 10‑year survey that remain unfinished. The district gave members of the public an opportunity to speak; no public testimony was offered during the hearing.
After discussion closed, a motion to adjourn the public hearing passed on a roll‑call vote: Miss Pearson, Mister Schubert, Miss McCall, Mister Carpenter, Miss Haley and Miss Stanford voted “yes”; one board member was absent. The committee chair said the resolution authorizing the sale of bonds will be brought to the full Board of Education for action at the board meeting on January 21, 2025.
Ending: The public hearing record shows no public speakers; the board will consider the bond sale resolution at the January 21 board meeting.
