Resident urges board to help send students to Harlem Globetrotters, describes transportation support for homeless families

Tack said he currently transports “46 kids to school every day,” and that many parents cannot contribute for gas. “I'm averaging 240 to 350 miles a week. I'm averaging a 160 in gas,” he said. He described taking students to faith-based events and said some children lacked basic clothing on those outings.
Tack urged board members to coordinate with schools and community partners so principals could select 10 to 20 students “doing good” to attend the Harlem Globetrotters event, which he described as “not only entertainment, but it's educational.” He said community partners, including the fire and police chiefs, had offered to help organize buses.
The remarks came during the meetingpublic-comment period; the board did not respond to public comments at that time.
