Three sworn in to Rockford School District 205 board; outgoing member honored

Patricia Chavez, Kimberly Haley and Nicole Bennett each recited the board oath that referenced the U.S. Constitution, the Illinois Constitution and the laws of the State of Illinois. Each began by saying, "I do solemnly swear," and affirmed obligations to protect district assets, encourage free expression, respect privacy and abide by majority decisions made at public board meetings.
The oath included formal language about serving "as a faithful protector of the school district's assets" and advancing the vision of Rockford School District 205 in Winnebago and Boone counties. The swearing-in followed roll call, which showed seven members present and established a quorum.
Before the new members took their seats, the board paused to present a plaque to Grant Schubert. The board thanked Schubert for his service as a board member for the 2023–2025 term; board members invited him to stand and accepted the presentation.
The meeting moved from the ceremonial swearing-in into the officer-election portion of the special meeting.
