The Rockford Public Schools Board of Education voted unanimously to approve submission of an application to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) requesting a waiver of the state school-code requirement that the district post its annual statement of affairs in a local newspaper.
The vote followed public hearing procedures; no public speakers addressed the waiver. A board member moved and a second was recorded; the subsequent roll-call vote recorded "Yes" from Miss Pearson, Miss Chavez, Miss McCall, Miss Bennett, Mister Carpenter, Miss Haley and Miss Stanford. The motion "passes unanimously," the board chair said.
Board materials identified the item as a standard ISBE waiver request, and board staff presented it under the public hearing portion of the agenda. No debate or conditions were recorded on the floor during the motion. The board approved the submission for the waiver, which will be subject to ISBE review and decision.
