The Elkhorn Area School District board approved routine business on Aug. 11, including minutes, bills, gifts, a policy second reading and a roll‑call move to closed session. A motion to approve the minutes of the July 28, 2025 regular and closed‑session meetings passed by voice vote. The board then approved general and other fund payments (checks, wires and ACH) that totalled $802,627.21, as listed on the agenda, after a motion and second. The board accepted two school gifts: a doll set valued at $200 donated by Kaylee Andrews Wagner and a guitar, amplifier, mic stand and microphone valued at $500 donated by Peter and Rosalie Ruhr. A motion to accept the gifts passed by voice vote. On its second reading, the board approved a new policy governing student use of tobacco and nicotine. The policy wording had been returned for review at a prior policy meeting; the board discussed and voted to add back a previously removed section and adopted the policy by voice vote. Finally, the board moved to adjourn to a closed session "pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 19.85, para 1, para (c) and para (d)" to discuss a personnel matter and to review and approve the district’s school safety plan. The motion passed on a roll‑call vote; several members recorded “yes” during the roll call. The board said it would reconvene in open session for action as appropriate and to adjourn at the conclusion of closed session.
