The city council on Tuesday approved Resolution R-2025-16 authorizing application for a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) aviation grant to update the airport layout plan (ALP) for the Llano Municipal Airport.
City staff told the council TxDOT has provided a grant opportunity of about $110,000 to update an ALP that staff described as "too old" to meet current TxDOT standards. Marty, a city staff member, said the city's match for the consultant portion of the grant would be $15,001.74. "They're willing to pay for that airport layout plan," Marty said, explaining the match requirement.
The council also approved a five-member committee (including staff, pilots and council representatives) to select the consultant TxDOT will fund. Staff said the ALP update is a prerequisite for other airport improvement grants; councilmembers emphasized the step does not itself commit the city to construction projects but is needed to become eligible for future TxDOT funding.
Action: A motion to approve Resolution R-2025-16 and authorize staff to apply for the TxDOT grant passed on voice vote; the mayor declared the motion carried.
